Outreach is in! How To Boss (babe) Your Engagement on Socials 📈

Social media is called that for a reason, girl. 💅

The algorithms on most platforms reward you for… (shock) being SOCIAL! 👏

If you haven’t heard, reaching out to other people is the best way to grow your following, elevate your platform and get the most out of social media. It’s all about community, y’all!

Plus, it’s fun. Who doesn’t love having a little chat in the comments?

We’re going to be focusing on Instagram and LinkedIn - two platforms that we’re incredibly familiar with - but you can apply a lot of the lessons you learn here across Facebook, TikTok and more. How about it? 💁‍♀️

First, identify who you want to connect with and why.

Do you want to be a thought leader in your space? Make more connections in your sector? Establish yourself as the go-to for all things *insert job title here*? Are you looking for your next work opportunity?

These questions will help you decide who to follow, who to engage with and HOW to approach people in those comments.

LinkedIn

With an algorithm that’s only *really* rivalled by TikTok, LinkedIn is a great place to get visibility and build an audience.

We all know the famous adage about opinions… Everyone has one but we don’t need to see them? (Google it if you’re confused.😅)

Well on LinkedIn, it’s an opinion party! 💃 Get ‘em out, wave ‘em around. Find people who agree with you, find people who don’t and start chatting!

As long as you keep it respectful, people love the opportunity to talk about their different views when it comes to work, business culture and the like.

Whatever your sector is, there will be communities and creators that have a lot to say about it. It’s an opportunity to learn, share and network, girlie.

It’s not just for CEOs bragging about their wealth or freelancers looking for work. There’s people just sharing their career journeys, and in 2023 - that looks different for everyone.

We recommend finding a few large creators that you like and commenting on/engaging with their content every day.

It works like this:

When you comment on someone’s post, it pulls your name into their feed and vice versa. That means that everyone in their network can see you. Visibility to the max, queen! 👏

You’re getting a whole new audience for FREE. And no, it’s not just piggybacking on someone’s success - they also benefit from the visibility that your audience gets them. Win-win.

Instagram

Ah, Insta. Where boredom goes to die. With so much content and the opportunity for literally endless scrolling, how do you make sure you’re finding the right people to engage with?

The 'most recent' toggle on the 'explore' page is great. Thanks to recent(ish) updates, it only really works on mobile. Use relevant hashtags to find people in your sector, your ideal customer or just content that you generally want to engage with.

If you’re not seeing results from the past 24-48 hours, open up people’s profiles from those hashtags and check out their latest posts to see if they’re relevant.

The more you reach out, the more people will come to support your content in turn.

Don’t forget to make the most out of hashtags on your posts to create the same effect and draw the right people to you!

So that's it! It's all about making time to engage with other people's content in an entirely mutually beneficial way. You look smart, they get a comment, their audience sees you rocking out. Truly the best of both worlds.

Remember ➡️ Comments = Content.

You never know who might spot your comment and follow you because you articulated a point well, they agree with you or simply because they’ve realised how much of an icon you are. 💅

Try and keep what you’re saying useful or constructive. ‘Well done!’ and ‘Agree!’ won’t get you very far these days.

These are only the basics, but hopefully it’ll help you get started.

If this still sounds like a whole lotta too damn much to do for yourself, we can do it for you!

Pretty amazing right! Get in touch. 😉
